La-Toyah Phillips

Biography

La-Toyah Phillips is an Associate and Solicitor Advocate specialising in Family Law and Children Matters at Lamb Brooks.

She helps individuals navigate their legal family issues, such as divorce, separation, finances and children. Her approach is calm and empathetic, although tenacious and determined. La-Toyah always aims to achieve the best possible outcome for her client by focusing on the issues at hand, keeping her clients properly advised and informed throughout.

La-Toyah has a passion for helping families with children find a positive way forward following the breakdown of a family unit.  She believes that ultimately, life does not end after separation, a new journey begins, and she enjoys helping parents regain control of their lives following stressful, difficult times and finding them a solution that puts their children’s best interests at heart. She has built a specialism in children matters, including internal and external relocation issues.

La-Toyah qualified as a solicitor in 2019 and in May 2022, after many months of studying and sitting exams, La-Toyah qualified as a Solicitor Advocate. This means that she has gained the same rights of audience as a barrister by obtaining an additional qualification, allowing her to represent clients in the High Court, Crown Court, Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. This extra qualification allows La-Toyah to neatly bring together the role of both Solicitor and Barrister so that she can represent her clients in totality the whole way through their case. This is particularly beneficial for clients navigating sensitive matters, such as children cases, as she will have extended knowledge of the case background when representing them in court proceedings.

Work Highlights

  • Securing a relocation order to Canada, a change of name and a Prohibited Steps Order preventing the removal of the child from school without her client’s consent

  • Successfully securing an order for the shared care of a child, strongly opposing an application made to significantly reduce the clients contact from a 50/50 arrangement to alternate weekends

  • Securing the immediate return of children after one parent had unlawfully retained the children following contact
