Lamb Brooks are delighted to have been shortlisted for the ‘Business in the Community’ Award at the 2018 Destination Basingstoke Place to be Proud of Awards. We have made in to the final 3 and now we are relying on the public vote to win this prestigious award.

So, what exactly have Lamb Brooks done for the local community lately?

With a long heritage in the town the Partners and team at Lamb Brooks have a passion for giving back to the Basingstoke community. Whether this is through involvement in community projects, charity fundraising, supporting local sports clubs or our continued input with local business groups -the team ensure they go above and beyond the usual duties of corporate firms.

One of the stand-out moments of 2017 was our support for the ‘Sitting with Jane’ book bench trail. Lamb Brooks proudly sponsored one of the 24 benches as part of the unique art trail which brought colour, excitement, fun and pride to Basingstoke throughout the Summer. Our bench was one of the highest bids at auction raising a fantastic £5,500 for the Ark Cancer Centre Charity. The initiative really celebrated our culture and creativity as a town and brought people together – something we were delighted and extremely proud to be a part of.

As part of our commitment to ‘giving back’ an area close to the hearts of our Private Client (Wills, Trusts & Estate Planning) team is the importance of tackling loneliness and lack of mobility in the elderly. We held our first Lamb Brooks Tea Dance in December 2017 which was a great success – seeing recently bereaved ladies and those with difficulty getting out of the house often coming together to enjoy an afternoon tea, listening to some nostalgic music and either taking part or watching others ballroom dancing. Our second Tea Dance, held in April was almost a sell-out and we now have 3 other dances booked in throughout 2018, which also raise money for Age Concern. This is just the start of an initiative to help get the older population of Basingstoke to ‘keep moving’ with other events and workshops tackling fitness, mental health and socialising on the horizon.

Last Christmas the team at Lamb Brooks gave incredibly generously to the Trussell Trust Food Bank on Sarum Hill, Basingstoke. Members of staff brought in food, toiletries and Christmas items throughout the month which built up to an impressive 245 items. The food items weighed over 90kg which help feed over 200 people over the festive period.

Many of the Partners and staff at Lamb Brooks are sporting enthusiasts, understanding the vital role that sport plays in the community for health and social benefits. Lamb Brooks have been a sponsor of Basingstoke Rugby Club for many years now. The firm also sponsor the Old Basing Ladies Bowling team and the “Hotshots” Netball Team, who a few members of staff also play for. We also have a team of 10 in training for the St Michaels Hospice 10k run, taking place at Down Grange on 16 May 2018.

Lamb Brooks also run a free breakfast seminar programme for local businesses on various topical legal issues by way of updating the business community. The popular ‘Property Forum’ regularly attracts 40+ attendees and receives excellent feedback.

Staff are committed to fund raising for local charities throughout the year – the firm takes part in the “Lamb Brooks Great British Bake Off” seeing teams battle it out for the crown whilst fund raising for The Ark Cancer Centre Charity. The firm have just kicked off a regular ‘dress down Friday’ on the last Friday of each month where departments take turns in choosing which charity will benefit from the sums raised each month, the chosen charities will all be local to Basingstoke and Deane.

On top of the firm’s dedication to giving back and supporting the local community they also have a keen passion for improving the top of town area where the Lamb Brooks offices are located. The firm has invested in external painting, the installation of a new disabled access door, updated signage and this Summer hanging baskets are going up to brighten up the area around the office to help make the area a more attractive and pleasant place to live and work.

Lamb Brooks’ commitment to the local community is ongoing and they are always looking for new opportunities and projects to get involved in. Having a passionate team who love Basingstoke helps support this ethos!
