The arrival of a baby is a precious time for all the family and in the U.K. we are fortunate to have some of the most well trained and experienced professionals in gynaecology, obstetrics, midwifery and neonatal care.
Unfortunately things sometimes do go wrong and this can have significant and long-lasting consequences for mother and child. Problems can occur at any stage of pregnancy, labour, delivery and aftercare.
Poor outcomes for mother or child do not necessarily mean that the clinicians have been negligent but our team of specialist lawyers at Lamb Brooks are highly experienced in assessing whether sub-standard care has been given, amounting to negligent treatment.
We work closely with families to achieve appropriate compensation for a wide range of birth related traumas and injuries including:-
Below is an example of a typical birthing complication, Erb’s Palsy or Brachial Plexus Injuries;
Clinicians should monitor the size of the baby throughout pregnancy and make appropriate plans for the birth. If the baby is larger than normal or the mother is considered not likely to have a successful vaginal delivery, the clinicians might anticipate problems and prepare for an episiotomy or caesarean section. If this action is not taken and the baby’s shoulders become stuck and appropriate manoeuvres are not undertaken, this can lead to trauma and injury to nerves. In some cases this can lead to baby’s arm or hand being paralysed.
We advise and act on all of the above and many other pregnancy and birth related conditions and injuries. Initial consultation and advice is free and our highly experienced team will of course treat all enquiries sensitively. We cannot undo any wrong that has been done but we can ensure you and/or your child receive the maximum level of compensation appropriate for your circumstances.
