EDGE Project's Impact Youth Panel have been working with the Museum Archives of Hampshire to make a short film celebrating contemporary life in Basingstoke. This will form part of the Celebrity - Up Close and Personal collection which opens on 1st February and runs at the Willis Museum for 2 months (until 27th March).
As part of the project the Panel interviewed local figures in the community to find out what had changed in the town over recent years and what the current perception of Basingstoke was amongst both residents and visitors to the town. The feedback was extremely positive and will work to raise the profile of the town.
Ann Davies, managing partner of Lamb Brooks, was asked to contribute a piece to the film. As she has seen the town grow and change during the last 20 years, her input was extremely valuable to the team compiling the film. Ann said "I'm glad to be asked to take part in this project. It's important that people appreciate the amazing work that takes place in Basingstoke - and as a former board member at The Anvil I hope I conveyed the depth and breadth of culture and entertainment that Basingstoke provides to its community. And it was interesting to think of all the famous people who have come from or passed through Basingstoke on their journey to fame and fortune - from Johnny Wilkinson to Liz Hurley, the Duchess of York to a singer in the Libertines!"
